Mitchell S. Ostwald

A leading consumer attorney, Mitchell Ostwald is committed to making a difference for his clients and to contributing to the improvement of life in our community.

Ostwald offers superior legal counsel to consumers and businesses. His expertise is in securities law, business and investor disputes, and real estate, including construction defect litigation.

Ostwald represents his clients in the most professional, thorough and imaginative manner. Years of challenging casework has taught him the value of keeping cases moving along and finding creative solutions to his client’s best interests. Some say that his success is due to a “tough” attitude. He attributes it to having a passion for fairness and justice. He believes the difference between earning an expedient settlement and a just award often comes down to an attorney’s innate determination and spirit.

Several of his most renowned victories involved civil litigation and securities arbitration. Ostwald has obtained for his homeowner clients settlements and jury awards of $3.5 million and $4.4 million respectively. These cases mark some of the largest construction defects awards in Sacramento County history. Ostwald won a $2.6 million jury verdict that included punitive damages for a business client involved in a lender liability action against a major national bank. He has also recovered millions of dollars through settlements and arbitration awards for investors.

Mitchell Ostwald was born in San Jose, California. He is a graduate of UCLA, University of the Pacific, McGeorge Law School, and has received a Diploma in Advanced International Legal Studies from the University of Salzburg, Austria. A member in good standing with the State Bar of California, International and American Bar Associations, Consumer Attorneys of California, the Capital City Attorneys of California, and the Public Investors Arbitration Bar Association (PIABA), Ostwald also serves as an arbitrator for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
