Anne Marie Flaherty

Anne Marie Flaherty was born in the Mission District of San Francisco, California, in 1949, and grew up in and around the City. During the turbulent sixties, Anne Marie went to St. John’s Urseuline High School in San Francisco, and then to San Francisco State College. Her college career was briefly interrupted by the birth of her two daughters in 1971 and 1973. In 1978 she was awarded her B.A. degree magna cum laude in English with departmental honors from San Jose University, and then went straight on to Stanford Law School, receiving her J.D. in 1981.

After law school, Anne Marie stayed in Palo Alto, California to practice in the business litigation department of Ritchey, Fisher, Whitman & Klein, and medium-sized Silicon Valley law firm with a fine reputation for quality and integrity. There, Anne Marie handled a variety of business disputes, including construction and engineering defects, trade secrets/intellectual property, partnership dissolutions, and real estate and brokerage litigation. In 1995, Anne Marie and her brother Michael faced each other on opposite sides of a difficult commercial landlord/tenant dispute involving a major but troubled shopping center; 1996 they joined forces in the Law Offices of Michael Flaherty in Sacramento, California, where Anne Marie gained new areas of expertise, including agricultural disputes, bankruptcy and adversary proceedings, and appeals. Still an English major and bookworm at heart, Anne Marie enjoys the wide range of legal and factual issues in business disputes, and the challenge of analyzing and presenting her clients position to adversaries and the court.

Out of the office, when not curled up with a book Anne Marie can be found exploring the back roads of Northern California with her husband or spoiling their five grandchildren. Anne Marie lives in the Tahoe Park neighborhood of Sacramento, and can be seen power walking around the park most weekday mornings.
